Westbourne Weekend is a totally not-for-profit organisation formed in 1999 by a group of Westbourne residents to help celebrate the Millennium. The group came together to organise a week-long series of events in the summer of 2000 in and around the village of Westbourne. Such was the success and popularity of these activities that included a black tie ball, family event, treasure hunt and duck race the committee elected to repeat something similar over the same weekend the following year, and the cycle has continued ever since. Activities are now concentrated over a single weekend at the end of June, rather than a full week, but the spirit still remains very much as intended with any surplus cash made distributed amongst local charities and good causes annually.
